Abstract (en)

[origin: US4854550A] The stopper (1) is intended to automatically stop the orifice (14) of the pouring hole (11) of a metallurgical container (8) at the end of pouring of liquid metal (12) before the passage of slag (13). It principally comprises an external envelope in a refractory insulating material which is capable of sintering inside the metallurgical container (8), and composed of inorganic refractory particles embedded in a binder and a heavy core (6) intended to give the stopper (1) a density such that it floats on the liquid metal (12) and is sufficiently submerged in the metal (12) in order to stop the orifice (14) of the pouring hole (11) before the passage of slag (13).

Le bouchon (1) est destiné à boucher automatiquement l'orifice (14) du trou de coulée (11) d'un récipient métallurgique (8) à la fin de la coulée du métal liquide (12) avant le passage des scories (13). Il comprend principalement une enveloppe extérieure en un matériau isolant réfractaire susceptible de fritter à l'intérieur du récipient métallurgique (8), et composé de particules inorganiques réfractaires noyées dans un liant, et un noyau lourd (6) destiné à donner au bouchon 1 une masse spécifique telle qu'il flotte sur le métal liquide (12) en s'enfonçant suffisamment dans le métal (12) pour boucher l'orifice (14) du trou de coulée (11) avant le passage des scories (13).
