[origin: US4831812A] A process for wrapping a load with prestretched film comprising unwinding and prestretching the film before applying the film to the load, passing the load through a curtain of film and cutting the film behind the load while forming the curtain and wherein said prestretching step includes positioning the prestretching means in a standby position in front of the load wherein said means are positioned close together while initially prestretching the curtain, moving the prestretching means apart transversely in association with the required delivery of the prestretched film until such means are in a spaced apart position near the side surfaces of the load, prestretching the film to cover the side surfaces of the load, prestretching the film to cover the rear surface of the load, and then moving the prestretching means toward one another transversely behind the load until they are close together in association with the necessary delivery of prestretched film.

Procédé d'emballage pass-through d'une charge (1) avec pré-étirage du film étirable (2), dans lequel on constitue un rideau initial de film (2) ; on déplace la charge (1) en direction du rideau de film (2) afin de recouvrir la face frontale (5) et les faces latérales (6) ; on dévide le film (2) de bobines (8) et simultanément on le pré-étire grâce à deux moyens de pré-étirage (11) avant que de l'appliquer sur la charge (1) à l'état pré-étiré ; on arrête le déplacement de la charge (1) ; on déforme le rideau de film (2) pour l'amener sur la face arrière (7) ; on effectue une coupe et une double soudure transversales du rideau de film (2) caractérisé en ce que le délai entre le pré-étirage du film (2) et son application sur la charge (1) est très court et ne varie que faiblement pendant un cycle d'emballage, la longueur de film pré-étiré (2) avant son application sur la charge (1) étant très faible et ne variant que faiblement pendant un cycle d'emballage de manière que le film (2) soit appliqué sur la charge (1) dans la phase de retour élastique qui suit immédiatement la phase de pré-étirage et que la force de serrage du film 52) sur la charge (1) soit sensiblement constante sur toutes les faces de la charge (1).
