[origin: WO8707674A1] Device and method for taking pipe elements from a substantially horizontal position to a substantially vertical position, especially in connection with a derrick, preferably on a floating drilling platform. In order to dispense with existing vertical pipe storages and associated pipe handling equipment, and at the same time aiming for providing a simpler derrick structure and a platform having a point of gravity at a lower level, there is according to the invention provided a handling device comprising an elongated unit (51) which at its first end (52) is rotatably attached to the hoisting device (53) of the derrick, and which at its second end (56) is arranged for displacement along the working deck (58) of the drilling platform, the unit (51) comprising clamping means (59, 64) for holding pipe lengths (60, 60n) which preferably are constituted by pre-assembled pipe elements (60a, 60b, 60c). Since the pipe handling device follows the movement of the hoisting device there will be a smaller risk for loosing pipes in the drilling hole, and there is also achieved a total time saving and a more continuous drilling.

Le dispositif et le procédé décrits servent à placer dans une position essentiellement verticale des éléments de conduite se trouvant dans une position essentiellement horizontale, en relation notamment avec un derrick se trouvant de préférence sur une plate-forme de forage flottante. Afin de supprimer les dispositifs existants de stockage vertical de conduites et tout équipement de manipulation de conduites associé et en même temps afin d'obtenir une structure de derrick simplifiée et une plate-forme ayant un point de gravité situé à un niveau inférieur, on produit selon la présente invention un dispositif de manipulation comprenant une unité allongée (51), fixée de façon rotative au niveau de sa première extrémité (52) au dispositif de levage (53) du derrick et disposée au niveau de sa seconde extrémité (56) de façon à pouvoir se déplacer le long du plan de travail (58) de la plate-forme de forage. L'unité (51) comprend un organe de serrage (59, 64) servant à maintenir des longueurs de conduite (60, 60n) constituées de préférence par des éléments de conduite préassemblés (60a, 60b, 60c). Etant donné que le dispositif de manipulation de conduites suit le mouvement du dispositif de levage, on risque moins facilement de perdre les conduites dans le trou de forage et on obtient une économie de temps totale et un forage plus suivi.
