[origin: EP0271071A2] The invention relates to a system for monitoring overhead line pylons (1) in order to prevent acts of sabotage. It is provided that at least one sensor (2, 4, 5) is arranged on each pylon (1) in order to detect vibrations or movements. Connected to the sensors (2, 4, 5) of a pylon (1) is an evaluation unit (3) which is connected via an amplification unit (9) to a signal transmitting station (10), arranged on the pylon (1), for signals coded in the evaluation unit (3). A central signal receiving station (12), which is connected to an alarm (13) is arranged in a monitoring central station (11). An attack on a pylon (1) is detected and located rapidly and reliably in the monitoring central station (11), so that effective counter measures can be carried out. <IMAGE>
