Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0271480A2] In a flare-carrying projectile, the propellant cartridge (4) is filled with a dibasic rolled plate powder, with the result that the flight distance becomes independent of external moisture, provided that the design of the propellant-charged system is also otherwise waterproof. The flight properties are favourably influenced by a somewhat steeper bevel (22) of approximately 50 DEG of the stabiliser fins (3), by a slightly convex curvature of the outer contour of the stabiliser fins (3) in the region (23) beneath the bevel (22) and by the use of a steel adaptor (16). The shell (13) containing the ejector charge (11) has bores (25) which are covered on the inside with an aluminium foil (24). After the ignition of the ejector charge, the aluminium foil can therefore be deposited only at specific points, and an interruption of the ignition chain to the flare body is prevented. Finally, a delay element (18) is arranged between the shell (13) and the flare body (7), so that the flare body (7) is ignited only after ejection when it is already hanging from the parachute (19).
