A device for crimping elongate connectors onto flat strip leads, the device comprising two mutually approachable elongate stamping or pressing elements (25, 26), two leg members (11, 12) which are mutually approchable up to a predetermined end position and each of which carries one of the stamping or pressing elements (25, 26), and a device (10) for carrying out said approach movement, characterized in that at least one of the stamping or pressing elements (25, 26) is fixed on the relevant leg member (11) by a carrier member (15) which is arranged in the leg member (11) rotatably about a fixed pivot (A) and has at least two contact faces (15a-15d) for the stamping or pressing element (25), which contact faces are situated at a variable distance from the said pivot (A) and are in a position for use rotatable at will relative to the other leg member, the carrier member (15) and the stamping or pressing element (25) being provided with cooperating holding and position safeguarding members (15e, 25e ; 15f ; 15"e).
