Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0273902A2] To preserve paper, especially having a high content of mechanical pulp, the paper to be treated, which can already be in the form of a block of up to 400 pages is impregnated with a preservating solution in a vacuum chamber, followed by shock freezing and freeze drying. A mixture of strengthening and neutralising agents, preferably a mixed solution of methylcellulose and calcium hydroxide, serves as the preservating solution.
