[origin: EP0274172A1] Apparatus is disclosed for displaying a measure of time in binary notation. Various examples of the apparatus are disclosed, each example comprising arrays (100,102,104,106) of graphic symbols each of which can be switched between two states one of which is perceived as different from the other. Thus for example the graphic symbols may be switched from being visible to invisible; or otherwise altered. Further, in order to establish the place-value of a graphic symbol in an array, a graphic indicium may be provided or this may be established by the location of the graphic symbol in the apparatus as a whole. Similar apparatus with symbols other than visible symbols is suggested.
