[origin: EP0274204A1] A pumping apparatus for supplying fuel to a compression ignition engine includes a body which is formed in three portions, the first portion 55 defining a projection 54 which extends into an opening 53 formed in the second portion 51. The projection houses a bore 12 in which is located a pumping plunger 11 the actuating mechanism of which is housed in the third body portion. Also actuated by the mechanism is a rotary distributor 16 housed in the second body portion 51 and located in the first body portion is an electromagnetically operable spill valve 38.
