Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0274371A1] This bed base consists of slats (2) of lengths which may be identical or which may vary according to requirements. These slats (2) are joined together by straps (3) of suitable measurement, notched (3<1>) at uniform intervals (Fig. 8). These straps may be in one piece when the side of the bed base is straight or in several pieces (3<2>) when the side is not straight. They are then placed in an offset continuation arrangement. Straps cut at the same level make it possible to divide the bed base into several parts (3<3>). The ball joints (Fig. 1 and 2) are flexible, articulated, independent and self-supporting, with a wide base forming suckers. The upper sheath (11) bordered with lateral slots whose lips may move apart enables the slats to slide whilst gripping them. The hollow (7) below the curved lateral lugs (13) permits articulation. The strengthening ball joints (1<2>) are identical to the support ball joints (1). The lower hollow (7) can provide a passage for a strengthening slat (15) when the centre of the bed base is not supported. Figures seven and eight illustrate the abstract. Support ball joints (1), slats (2), notched straps (3), offset notched straps (3<2>). Strengthening ball joints (1<2> ) placed in the middle: for a double bed base; in pairs: to strengthen one or more slats. <IMAGE>
