Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0274736A2] The pile (30') to be separated is pushed with its corner (30c) at the front over a passage (4), which is bounded by two table tops (2, 3). Fastened to the end face (3a) of the one table top (3) is a separating strip (27) having a wedge-shaped cross-section and facing the direction of movement (E) of the pile (30'). During the movement of the pile (30') from the one table top (2) over the passage (4) to the other table top (3), the said separating strip (27) travels in between the layers of the pile and separates a bottom part (39) of the pile (30') from the part lying above. This separated part (39) of the pile is deflected downwards through the passage (4) and is collected as a packet in a collector arranged below the passage (4). After the pile (30') has been pushed completely beyond the passage (4) onto the second table top (3) the separated, lower part (39) of the pile can be removed effortlessly by hand from the collector and placed next to the remainder of the pile (30'). The lower end of the pile (30') can now be connected to the end of a following paper web to form an endless web. <IMAGE>
