[origin: EP0276391A2] Although very short tool-change times can be achieved with conventional turret cutting presses, this type of machine has the disadvantage of a limited tool capacity. Systems in which a stamping machine is fitted with a single head station and cooperates with an external tool magazine are admittedly distinguished by a high tool capacity, but relatively long tool-change times must be expected. The object of the invention is to design a sheet metal-working machine which combines a high tool-change speed with a large tool reservoir. This is achieved when, in the working station, a carriage with a plurality of tool-receiving systems is provided which can be connected to the tool drive system and each carry a tool set, a change of the tool set cooperating with the tool drive system being possible by straight line-shifting of the carriages, and a chain-type tool magazine being provided which cooperates via a tool-change device (58, 59) with the tool-receiving systems of the carriages. The chain-type tool magazine can also be interconnected via appropriate change stations to further tool magazines. <IMAGE>
