[origin: EP0276614A1] In the levelling stand (1), each active cylinder (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) is formed from a rigid steel rod coated with a ceramic layer having simultaneously a high hardness, a low wettability with respect to the fluids and a low adherence of metallic particles, of strip-coating products or of oxides. The invention is especially applicable to straightening and levelling stands, particularly in sheet rolling mills. <IMAGE>
