[origin: EP0276738A2] The soundproof cover and flexible mounting of internal combustion engines which prevents the propagation of sound and the transmission of vibrations to vehicles and foundations can have consequences for the rapid ease of access to the engine due to the effect of heat and lubricants on the durability of the sound-insulating, flexible elements on which the engine and the cover rest, and for fitting of the cover when the fixing points are at differing levels. The latter can lead to distortion of the cover. These possible disadvantages are avoided by the fixing of the internal combustion engine and cover according to the invention in that the brackets (9) for the cover (1), when fixed to the carrier supports (7) or on the foundation (7), are positioned above the engine mounting (3), in that the structure-borne sound-insulating flexible elements (6, 10) lie outside the cover and in that a sprung element (16) permits a level adjustment on at least one fixing point of the cover (1). In addition the engine mounting (3) and the fixing point for the cover (1) and internal combustion engine can be enclosed by a further sound-insulating cover (23). <IMAGE>
