Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0276745A2] In a single printing machine consisting of two printing units a particular counter-printing cylinder 3 or 6 is assigned to each rubber blanket cylinder 2, 4 of each printing unit. The rubber blanket cylinders 2 and 4 can be placed simultaneously or singly against the counter-printing cylinder 3 or 6 assigned to them to produce a two-coloured or, alternatively, a single-coloured first-run printing, where the web 7 to be printed is led around both counter-printing cylinders. The rubber blanket cylinders placed against one another also, however, allow a double-sided first run and perfector print operation where after the application of the printing inks the paper web 7' is led in a non-contacting manner between the counter-printing cylinders 3 and 6, which are separated from one another, thereby preventing smearing of the ink. The gearing of the printing machine according to the invention permits the driving of all necessary gear wheels from a single power-input point connected to the main drive. The compact method of construction allows the arrangement of the complete gearing on one side of the machine. The positioning of the couplings 9, 10 and 11 on the shaft ends simplifies assembly and contributes to ease of maintenance. <IMAGE>
