[origin: US4828175A] The apparatus for making artificial snow by atomizing water comprises a ductlike housing mounted on a supporting frame, in which a blower is positioned and on whose downstream end a plurality of nozzles or orifices for spraying water or a water-air-mixture are provided. The ductlike housing is constructed double walled. An inner wall of the ductlike housing is provided with a plurality of holes. Sound absorbing material in the interior space located between the inner wall and an outer wall and one electric heater are also provided. Air baffles can also be provided which contain sound absorbing material and are similarly heated.

Vorrichtung zur Erzeugung von künstlichem Schnee durch Zerstäubung von Wasser mit einem in einem Tragrahmen (6) verschwenkbar gelagerten Gehäuse (7), in welchem ein Ventilator (16) angeordnet ist und an dessen abströmseitigem Ende Düsen (11) für die Zerstäubung von Wasser bzw. eines Wasser-Luft-Gemisches vorgesehen sind. Dabei ist das rohrförmige Gehäuse (7) in an sich bekannter Weise doppelwandig ausgebildet, wobei die Innenwandung (21) mit Durchbrechungen (30) vorsehen ist und sind in dem zwischen den beiden Wandungen (21, 22) befindlichen Raum schalldämmendes Material (25) und eine elektrische Heizung (35) vorgesehen.
