1. A hand planer with a substantially cylindrical planing tool located in the machine housing and fixed to a motor driven shaft extending at right angles to the direction of planing, said planing tool having, on the adjacent side of the housing, an outward-pointing end face covered by a swivel hood capable of swinging upwards and attached to the housing, characterized in that the swivel hood (26) is, in its upswung position, axially movable towards the centre of the housing by at least the extent to which it protrudes from the side face (25) of the housing.

Bei einer Handhobelmaschine ist im Maschinengehäuse (10) auf einer quer zur Hobelrichtung verlaufenden, motorisch angetriebenen Werkzeugwelle ein im wesentlichen kreiszylindrisches Hobelwerkzeug (16) befestigt, das eine an der zugewandten Gehäuseseite frei nach außen weisende Stirnfläche aufweist. Die Stirnfläche des Hobelwerkzeugs (16) ist durch eine nach oben schwenkbare, am Gehäuse (10) angeordnete Schwenkhaube (26) abgedeckt, die im nach oben geschwenkten Zustand mindestens um das Maß, um das sie über die Gehäuseseitenfläche übersteht, axial zur Gehäusemitte hin verschiebbar ist.
