A cushioned sole for soft sports and casual shoes with a continuous soft insole, the cushioned sole comprising a continuous shell (1) with an inwardly projecting peripheral adhesive edge and with vertical webs (7, 8) in the raised heel and waist region, and also comprising a soft resilient cushion insert (13) disposed in the cavity of the shell and having a tapering edge and being held by the adhesive edge of the shell, characterised in that e thin rigid layer (9) (e.g. of leather, leather fibre, fibreboard or plastics) is disposed in the heel and waist region under the cushioned insert (13), which extends continuously from the front end of the sole to the heel region, and the layer, which is pressure-resistant, rests on the upper edges of the correspondingly shortened webs (7, 8) of the sole shell (1) and its front edge is flush with and bears against an internal abutment (11) integrally formed on the tread of the sole shell.
