[origin: US4862689A] A device and method are provided for rapidly priming a catalyst contained in a catalytic pot for a two stroke engine wherein the hottest fraction of the exhaust gases is transferred upstream of said catalyst and the remaining fraction of the exhaust gases is transferred downstream of said catalyst, as long as said catalyst is not primed.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé permettant l'amorçage rapide d'un catalyseur (9) contenu dans un pot catalytique (16) d'un moteur deux temps. Le procédé se caractérise en ce que l'on transfère la fraction la plus chaude des gaz d'échappement en amont (17) dudit catalyseur (9) et en ce que l'on transfère en aval (19) dudit catalyseur (9) la fraction restante des gaz d'échappement, et cela tant que ledit catalyseur (9) n'est pas amorcé. L'invention peut être appliquée aux moteurs deux temps à allumage commandé.
