Ceramic body (3) for the purification of exhaust gases, particularly from internal-combustion engines, consists of two half- shells consisting of deep-drawn sheet metal, in which the ceramic body (3) is supported in a gas-proof manner, with a surrounding sleeve (2), consisting of a wire mesh fabric, an expansion mat or the like placed between them. The edges (11.3, 11.4, 11.5) of the half shells (11.1, 11.2) are bulged out and provided with an outwardly pointing flange such that the half shells (11.1, 11.2) can be inserted to a greater or lesser depth into one another and such that a gas-proof welded seam (4) can conveniently be applied. <IMAGE>
Abstract (de)
Keramikkörpers (3) zur Reinigung von Abgasen, insbesondere von Brennkraftmaschinen, besteht aus zwei aus tiefgezogenem Blech bestehenden Halbschalen, in denen der Keramikkörper (3) unter Zwischenlage einer aus einem Drahtstrickgewebe, einer Expansionsmatte oder dergleichen bestehenden Ummantelung (2) gasdicht gelagert ist. Die Ränder (11.3, 11.4, 11.5) der Halbschalen (11.1, 11.2) sind derart ausgebuchtet und mit einem nach außen zeigenden Flansch versehen, daß die Halbschalen (11.1, 11.2) mehr oder weniger tief ineinandersteckbar sind und daß eine gasdichte Schweißnaht (4) bequem angebracht werden kann.
