A method and apparatus for the printing of tiles utilises an off-set rotary gravure printing process in which the transfer roller 2 has an outer surface of silicone rubber 3. Preferably, the tiles are supported against a support roller 7, itself having a silicone rubber surface 8, during their printing by the transfer roller.
