[origin: EP0279076A2] The invention relates to a device for comminuting especially vegetable or other waste subject to rotting, with at least two conveyor worms (16, 17, 18, 32) having longitudinal axes (19, 20, 33) lying in different planes, rotatably mounted in vertical housing walls (6), oppositely driveable and/or comprising oppositely aligned conveyor flights (14) and having a conveying circle (15) arranged on a worm-tube casing (24). The conveyor worm (16) lying in the lower plane is equipped with at least one comminuting tool (23) especially in a preferably circle-free longitudinal end region near the housing wall. In order, in particular, to reduce the drive powers of the conveyor worms necessary for comminuting also very hard waste, without impairing the desired multiple circulation or multiple comminution, the comminuting tool (23) has an arcuate cutting or tearing edge (26) with an arc shape widening in the circumferential direction of the conveyor worm radially in relation to the longitudinal axis of the conveyor worm. <IMAGE>
