[origin: US4827650A] The disclosed weapon system comprises a gun barrel and a cooperating caseless ammunition. The ammunition is temporarily retained within the gun barrel by means of a conical force fit. The coupling comprises a female conical surface in the rear of the gun barrel and a male conical surface on the rear of the projectile wherein both surfaces have the same conicity.
