Fall protection device (1) with a slide (3) which can be folded up, comprising a slide part (3a) and a locking part (3b), in which a longitudinal recess (6) for a stretched rope (2) is located. Supported in the slide part (3a) is a two-armed clamping lever (12), one end (12b) of which protrudes from the slide and has a fixing eye (13). Its other end has an eccentric clamping nose (12a), which in the event of a downward pull on the eye can be pressed more strongly on the rope (2) and in the event of an upward pull can be lifted off the rope. The clamping lever lies opposite the slide part (3a) under the action of a spring (17, 18) and the locking part (3b) can be locked on the slide part (3a). In order to solve the problem of being able to apply the slide to the rope with only one hand and to facilitate an immediate response, the slide part (3a) is constructed in the form of a block and contains the U-shaped longitudinal recess (6), enclosing the rope (2), at the side in such a position that one of its side walls runs parallel to the rope (2) and to a plane extending through the articulated shaft (11) of the clamping lever (12). Absturzsicherung (1) mit einem aufklappbaren, aus einem Schlittenteil (3a) und einem Verschlußteil (3b) bestehenden Schlitten (3), in dem eine Längsausnehmung (6) für ein gestrecktes Seil (2) angeordnet ist. Dabei ist in dem Schlittenteil (3a) ein zweiarmiger Klemmhebel (12) gelagert, dessen eines Ende (12b) aus dem Schlitten herausragt und eine Befestigungsöse (13) aufweist. Sein anderes Ende besitzt eine exzentrische Klemmnase (12a), die bei einem Abwärtszug an der Öse verstärkt an das Seil (2) anpreßbar und bei einem Aufwärtszug vom Seil abhebbar ist. Der Klemmhebel steht gegenüber dem Schlittenteil (3a) unter der Wirkung einer Feder (17, 18), und der Verschlußteil (3b) ist am Schlittenteil (3a) verriegelbar. Zur Lösung der Aufgabe, den Schlitten mit nur einer Hand am Seil anlegen zu können und ein verzögerungsfreies Ansprechen zu ermöglichen, ist der Schlittenteil (3a) blockförmig ausgebildet und enthält die U-förmige, das Seil (2) umschließende Längsausnehmung (6) seitlich in einer solchen Lage, daß deren eine Seitenwand parallel zum Seil (2) und zu einer durch die Gelenkachse (11) des Klemmhebels (12) gelegten Ebene verläuft. Dadurch ist die Klemmkraft der Klemmnase (12a) senkrecht zur Einlegerichtung des Seils (2) und zur Seitenwand ausgerichtet. Ferner ist der Verschlußteil (3b) plattenförmig ausgebildet, verläuft in Schließstellung parallel zur Schwenkebene des Klemmhebels (12) und deckt die seitliche Zugangsöffnung der Längsausnehmung (6) ab, so daß die Klemmkraft nicht auf den Verschlußteil einwirkt.
