The protective helmet has a multi-part helmet shell consisting of two side parts (1), located opposite each other on both sides of the apex plane (5-5) of the helmet, and a central part (2) curving over the side parts (1) along the apex (5'). Provided between them in each case are free joints (6) which allow deformations, changing the curvature, of the central part (2) which can be bent elastically in the apex plane (5-5). The side parts (1) and the central part (2) are connected to one another by a tensioning means which extends in an annular fashion in a transverse plane (8-8) which is approximately perpendicular to the apex plane (5-5) and passes through the two end regions (2.1, 2.2) of the central part (2) and through both side parts (1). The tensioning means can be adjusted and fixed in respect of its annular circumference. <IMAGE>

Der Schutzhelm besitzt eine mehrteilige Helmschale aus zwei sich beidseits der scheitelebene (5-5) des Helm gegenüberliegenden Seitenteilen (1) und einem die Seitenteile (1) längs des Scheitels (5') überwölbenden Mittelteil (2). Dazwischen sind jeweils freie Fugen (6) vorgesehen, die die Wölbung ändernde Verformungen des elastisch in der Scheitelebene (5-5) biegbaren Mittelteils (2) ermöglichen. Die Seitenteile (1) und das Mittelteil (2) sind miteinander durch ein Zugmittel verbunden, das ringartig in einer zur Scheitelebene (5-5) etwa senkrechten, durch die beiden Endbereiche (2.1, 2.2) des Mittelteils (2) und durch beide Seitenteile (1) gehenden Querebene (8-8) verläuft und bezüglich seines Ringumfangs ein- und fesstellbar ist.
