Hubbalkenofen (1) mit einem Herd aus Festbalken (4) und auf durch Schlitze (9) im Ofenboden (6) geführten Stützen (7) angeordneten Hubbalken (8), bei dem, um Wärmeverluste und ein unerwünschtes Aufheizen der Stützen (7) im Bereich der Bodenschlitze (9) zu vermeiden, mit den Stützen (7) wenigstens in Vorschubrichtung bewegliche Abdeckungen (12) für die Bodenschlitze (9) angeordnet sind.
