Abstract (en)

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for optimizing the control and treatment of fibre suspension flow. The invention is mainly intended to be applied in connection with pumping of high consistency pulp in pulp and paper industry. In general, a control valve is provided on the discharge site of the pump in order to regulate the flow. Problems with high pressure loss across the control valve or clogging of the valve are eliminated or minimized by the method and apparatus (19) according to the invention, in which in close proximity to the flow side surface of the valve element (19) a fluidizing element (22) is arranged, which fluidizes the pulp to a liquid state so that the pulp can flow through the valve opening (16) and not clog it.
