[origin: US4861508A] Improved mouldability and surface smoothness is provided for moulded detergent compositions, for example bar soaps, containing from 30 to 70% by weight of a sodium C12-C18 alkyl sulfate, from 5 to 25% by weight of a C12-C18 fatty alcohol, from 5 to 25% by weight palmitic and/or stearic acid, optionally partially saponified, and from 1 to 30% by weight of an alpha -sulfofatty acid salt corresponding to the following formula <IMAGE> (I) wherein R1 is a linear C9-C21 alkyl group, A is an alkali metal, ammonium or alkanolammonium cation, and B is hydrogen or has one of the meanings of A.
