[origin: EP0281205A2] The overhead cable mountain railway has the cable (1) formed in a continuous loop with turn round pulleys (2,3) at each end of the loop. The cable is guided by groups of pulleys (4) to enable the cable cars to avoid any obstacles. Each cable car is attached to the cable by an arm in the form of an inverted L. The horizontal part of the arm has a clamping device to grip the cable. This horizontal part is so dimensioned that it can extend over the guide pulleys when the direction of curvature of the cable strand (6) is such that the cable lies on the side of the guide pulley (4) opposite to the vertical part of the arm which supports the cable car.
