[origin: EP0281462A1] The invention relates to an ammunition, especially for artillery, comprising a projectile (1) connected to a case (10) containing a propellant charge (11). It comprises a ring (12) made of a material combustible or easily fragmentable under the effect of the pressure attributable to the combustion of the propellant charge and fixed to the projectile (1) by a connecting means, its lateral surface (15) being matched to the inner surface (14) of the case. The projectile (1) consists of a sabot (3) carrying a sub-projectile (2) and the connecting means then consists of a surface of the ring having form correspondence (17, 18) with part of the sub-projectile (2). The ring (12) has a shoulder (19) gripped between the sub-projectile (2) and the sabot (3). The ring (12) is fixed to the case (10) in the region of its lateral surface (15) by a fastening means consisting of a crimping of the case on the lateral surface (15). The invention is used for high-calibre ammunition of the sweptback type possessing a slipping girdle. <IMAGE>
