[origin: EP0282640A1] The lighting device (4) is arranged on at least one car wall (3.2) and/or on the assembly conduit running in the car wall (3.2) and intended for accommodating the car indicator board (3.8) and cabling. The lighting device (4) has on the one hand light radiation (4.23) for indirectly illuminating the passenger space and on the other hand, if the lighting device (4) is arranged on the assembly conduit, light radiation (4.33) for directly illuminating the surroundings of car indicator board (3.8) and lift entrance/exit. To produce decorative, variable illumination effects, the lighting device (4) has a liquid filter with various coloured, non-miscible liquids. The upward/downward travel of the lift car triggers a convective movement of the liquids, which in turn continuously changes the absorption characteristic of the liquid filter. <IMAGE>
