[origin: EP0283897A2] A supporting insulator, particularly for connection to transformers and encapsulated switchgear. The supporting insulator consists of an elastic base part (11), preferably of silicon rubber, and a rigid supporting part (10), preferably of cast resin. The two parts are connected to one another so that they cannot be detached and there is no cavity. The elastic material surrounds the connecting part (22) of the apparatus duct (20), pre-tensioned radially, such that it is dust and waterproof. In the region of the electrical contact, a field control electrode (16) is integrated in an annular manner in the base part (11).
