1. Material consisting of an intermetallic compound of the formula AB or AB2 , characterised thereby, that a) A=Fe or Co or Ni or Pd or Pt or Au or a mixture of these elements, wherein each of these elements can be replaced by Cu to up to 15 atom-percent and B=Al or Ga or In or Si or a mixture of these elements, wherein A can be present in an excess of up to 15 atom-percent above the stochiometric value and the material may contain up to 1 atom-percent of impurities or foreign substances, b) that it has a cubic structure either of the type B2 or of the type C1 and c) that it displays a grain size of less than 50 micrometres.
