[origin: EP0284812A1] For transporting sheets, e.g. paper sheets, preferably by removing the topmost sheet (4) from a sheet stack (2), a transport head (8) is provided, which employs a partial vacuum to suck up the topmost sheet. This transport head is provided with roller elements (20), against which the sheet to be transported is applied by means of a partial vacuum. The sheet sucked up in this way can be conveyed in any transport direction. In this case, the transport direction is selectable or adjustable.
