[origin: EP0285045A1] A system (1) for binding flexible, elongated objects (20) comprises a feed mechanism (7) for advancing the objects (20) and a winding wheel (12) arranged coaxially with the longitudinal axis of the objects (20). The wheel is provided with a tape roll support (13) which revolves together with the wheel. The feed mechanism (7) has a feed carriage (8) which moves parallel to the axis of rotation of the winding wheel or to the longitudinal axis of the objects (20) and a holding device (9) on side nearest the winding wheel for the start of the objects (20). The feed mechanism (7) has two rollers (10, 11), one above the other, which can be displaced vertically and whose axes of rotation are perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the objects (2). One roll (10) acts as a feed length receiver (10'), the other roll (11) as a feed drive (11'). The feed carriage (18) is partially or fully synchronized with the feed drive (11') and the feed length is controlled by comparison of the reference and actual values in an electrical control programme unit (2).
