A connector with a case and a contact insertion piece, which can be inserted in the case, has an elastic snapping element, which engages in a circumferential slot arranged on the inside of the case when the contact insertion piece is inserted in the case. To prevent the contact insertion piece having play in the tipping sense with respect to the case, in the circumferential slot there is an axially movable intermediate ring, which can be pushed over the snapping element, the intermediate ring and the snapping element being designed such that the snapping element is displaced in the radial direction with respect to its original position when the intermediate ring is in the position pushed over the snapping element. <IMAGE>

Ein Steckverbinder mit einem Gehäuse und einem in das Gehäuse einsetzbaren Kontakteinsatz hat ein elastisches Schnappelement, das in dem im Gehäuse eingesetzten Zustand des Kontakteinsatzes in einer auf der Innenseite des Gehäuses angeordnete Umlaufnut eingreift. Zur Vermeidung von Kippspiel des Kontakteinsatzes gegenüber dem Gehäuse liegt in der Umlaufnut ein axial verschiebbarer Zwischenring, der über das Schnappelement schiebbar ist, wobei der Zwischenring und das Schnappelement derart ausgebildet sind, daß das Schnappelement in der über das Schnappelement geschobenen Lage des Zwischenringes in radialer Richtung gegenüber seiner Ursprungslage versetzt
