Abstract (en)
A method and installation for rolling a metal product (5) more especially in a "four-high" type of rolling mill, comprising two work rolls (1) and (2) interposed between two back-up rolls (3)(4), at least one of which is of the type with variable convexity, comprising a cylindrical casing (33) slipped over a central shaft (31), and means for adjusting the profile of the casing (33). <??>The rolling mill is equipped with a single back-up roll (3) with variable convexity, the other back-up roll (4) being a simple solid counter-roll which deforms freely through the action of the tightening force, forming a support line (47) which is concave towards the rolling space (50). Deformation of the casing (33) of the back-up roll (3) with variable convexity is controlled so as to form a support line (37) which is convex towards the rolling space (50) and substantially parallel to the support line (47) of the counter-roll (4) and the bulging of the work roll (1) is adjusted so as to keep the thickness of the rolling space constant over the entire width of the product (5), the latter having, at the exit of the rolling mill, a curved cross-sectional profile which is capable of being corrected subsequently by known means. <IMAGE>

L'invention a pour objet un procédé et une installation de laminage d'un produit métallique (5) plus spécialement dans un laminoir de type "quarto" comprenant deux cylindres de travail (1) et (2) interposés entre deux cylindres d'appui (3)(4) dont l'un au moins est du type à bombement variable comprenant une enveloppe cylindrique (33) enfilée sur un arbre central (31) et des moyens de réglage du profil de l'enveloppe (33). Selon l'invention,le laminoir est équipé d'un seul cylindre d'appui (3) à bombement variable, l'autre cylindre d'appui (4) étant un simple contre-cylindre plein qui se déforme librement sous l'action de l'effort de serrage en formant une ligne d'appui (47) concave vers l'espace de laminage (50). On contrôle la déformation de l'enveloppe (33) du cylindre d'appui (3) à bombement variable de façon à former une ligne d'appui (37) convexe vers l'espace de laminage (50) et sensiblement parallèle à la ligne d'appui (47) du contre-cylindre (4) et l'on règle le cambrage du cylindre de travail (1) de façon à maintenir constante l'épaisseur de l'espace de laminage sur toute la largeur du produit (5), ce dernier présentant, à la sortie du laminoir, un profil en travers incurvé susceptible d'être corrigé ensuite par des moyens connus.
