Abstract (en)

1. A press stud with mutually complementary press stud portions (male portion 10 and female portion 11) having central male or female coupling surfaces (12; 13) on a flange (14), the press stud portions (10; 11) can be mounted to a perforated carrier strip (35) which serves for fixing of the press stud portions (10; 11) to a carrier (34) such as an article of clothing, wherein the coupling surfaces (12; 13) are respectively aligned with the hole (36) in the carrier strip and after application of the carrier strip (35) lie with the underside (18) of their flange against the carrier (34) and the coupling surfaces (12; 13) of the mutually complementary press stud portions of two carrier strips can be brought into engagement with each other from the visible side (39) of the carrier strip, characterised in that the press stud portions (10, 11) can be applied in a row with their flange top side (15) which carries their respective coupling surfaces (12, 13) to the back (37) of a perforated carrier strip (35), the flanges (14) of the press stud portions (10; 11) comprising thermoplastic material are provided on their underside (18) which is remote from the coupling surfaces (12; 13) with a groove (20) extending in an annular configuration around same, and the plate regions (26) of the flange (14) which are disposed on the flange top side (15) and which are in opposite relationship to the groove bottom (21), when using a carrier strip (35), are welded directly on the back (37) of the carrier strip by ultrasound which acts on the plate region (26) which is in opposite relationship to the groove (20) (Figs. 4 and 5), and that the press stud portions (10; 11), alternatively to the carrier strip (35), can be applied directly to the carrier (48) with a fixing cap (40) which lies on the oppositely disposed side (48) of the carrier, the cap (40) has a plurality of pointed (45) projections (42) which can be self-perforatingly pushed through the carrier material (34) and which are arranged on a circle (46) which corresponds to the diameter (47) of the annular groove (20), wherein the press stud portion (10; 11) faces towards the carrier (34) with its flange underside (18), the projection points (45) which project out of the carrier bear against the groove bottom (21) of the press stud flange (14) and their thermoplastic material runs due to ultrasound acting in the groove region (20), at least partially fills the groove (20) and is joined to the material of the flange (14) (Fig. 9).
