[origin: US4862680A] Apparatus for the packaging of cigarettes by successively folding inner and outer wrappers about a hollow open-ended mandrel, plural of the mandrels being supported from a rotary turret which is moved in step-wise fashion, which enables the use of a metalized foil as the inner wrapper. The apparatus establishes communication between a low pressure source and the interior of the mandrel during at least a portion of the wrapper folding procedure with the resulting suction being applied to the inner wrapper via an open end of the mandrel and through an array of holes provided in the side of the mandrel where opposite free ends of the inner wrapper are positioned after folding.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Bodenfaltungspacker zum Verpacken von Zigaretten (2) mit einem hohle, sternförmig angeordnete Faltdorne (4) aufweisenden Umhüllrevolver (1), der taktweise um jeweils eine Faltdornteilung weiterschaltbar ist, mit Einrichtungen (6) zum Zuführen sowohl von Innen- als auch von Aussenpapier (5, 7) sowie mit stationären und beweglichen Faltorganen (8, 9, 10, 11) zum Falten des Innenpapiers (5) um einen mit einem Zigarettenblock gefüllten Faltdorn (4) und des Außenpapiers (7) um das um den Faltdorn (4) gefaltete Innenpapier (5). Damit metallisierte Folie als Innenpapier (5) verwendet werden kann, ist vorgeshen, daß sich über den von den Faltdornen (4) durchlaufenen Bereich, in dem das Einfalten des Innenpapierbodens bis zum kompletten Schließen des Außenpapierbodens stattfindet, eine die Faltdorne (4) kopfseitig beaufschlagende Saugstrecke vorgesehen ist und die Faltforne (4) in ihrer bezüglich der Revolverdrehrichtung (12) nachlaufenden Radialwandung mit Löchern (19) versehen sind.
