[origin: EP0287401A2] Apparatus for dressing the edges of strip steel, for instance, comprises several sets of dressing rollers 106, 110, 118 between which the strip is driven by pinch rollers 108, 112, 122 and which impart a desired profile to the strip edge. The dressing rollers are progressively more narrowly spaced as the strip proceeds, to ensure that all rollers are contributing to the dressing. A heating station 114 is located before the final pair of dressing rollers 118, to allow both cold and hot dressing.
