Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0287964A2] Firing is simulated by a video playback unit (17) emitting a video signal train, a video projector (12) which is connected to the playback unit (17) via a memory (28) storing a video image and which projects moving or still video images onto a target screen (3) according to the video signal, a simulated firearm (2) with a light source which emits a focused light beam (4) of a given spectral range in the firing direction, and a switching device (15) which is actuable by the shot and which stops the playback unit (17), whereupon the projector continues to emit the image projected at the time of actuation of the switching device and stored in the memory (28). A television camera (14), selectively sensitive to the spectral range of the light source and directed at the target screen (3), is connected to a colour punching circuit (27) which is inserted between the video playback unit (17) and the memory (28) and which, at the location of the light spot (5) of the given spectral range reflected from the target screen (3), punches a mark into the video signal train to be stored by the memory. The entire apparatus, with the exception of the firearm and the target screen which can be a white wall, can be installed in a single compact case. <IMAGE>
