[origin: EP0288591A1] The housing (1) of the wrist watch consists of a central part (2) and a base (3), which has an annular projection (13) on its inner surface, and is closed by the watch glass (4) at the top. A mechanism retaining ring (7), which is inserted into the housing (1) and supports the watch mechanism (8), consists of a plastic which is slightly resiliently yielding and has a downward-facing annular flange (11) which is clamped, with compression, between the annular projection (13) of the base (3) and the inner periphery of the central part (2), and so simultaneously connects the base (3) to the central part (2) in a leak tight manner as a pressure fit. The wrist watch can also be composed of the housing (1) and of an outer ring (5) supporting the bracelet connections (6), into which outer ring the housing (1) is detachably pushed from below. The axial fixing of the housing (1) in the outer ring (5) is provided by a resilient ring (20) which rests in an annular groove (21) provided on the outer periphery of the central part (2). Fully prefabricated housings (1) can be combined as desired with different outer rings (5). <IMAGE>
