Sub-calibre projectiles (1) often have a sabot (30) possessing a first air pocket (31) which causes the sabot (30) to come loose from the projectile core (20) or which is intended to assist this on spin-stabilised projectiles. The object on which the invention is based is to develop a projectile (1), in which as low a mass as possible is necessary, even for relatively long sabots (30), and in which the sabot segments, after leaving the barrel, come loose quickly and without disturbing the flight behaviour of the projectile core (20). This object is achieved in that the sabot (30) has a guide part (32) arranged in front of the first air pocket (31) in the direction of flight of the projectile (1), and in that a second air pocket (34) is provided at the front end of the guide part (32). <IMAGE>

Unterkalibrige Geschosse (1) besitzen häufig einen Treibkäfig (30), der eine erste Lufttasche (31) aufweist, die die Ablösung des Treibkäfigs (30) vom Geschoßkern (20) bewirkt bzw. bei drallstabilisierten Geschossen unterstützen soll. Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Geschoß (1) zu entwickeln, bei dem auch bei relativ langen Treibkäfigen (30) eine möglichst geringe Masse erforderlich ist und bei dem die Ablösung der Treibkäfigsegmente nach Verlassen des Rohres schnell und ohne Störung des Flugverhaltens des Geschoßkernes (20) erfolgt. Diese Aufgabe wird dadurch gelöst, daß der Treibkäfig (30) ein in Flugrichtung des Geschosses (1) vor der ersten Lufttasche (31) angeordnetes Führungsteil (32) besitzt, und daß am vorderen Ende des Führungsteiles (32) eine zweite Lufttasche (34) vorgesehen ist.
