In a cooking-oven heater (1), a filament resistance (7), which serves as upper heat heating unit and can be operated as a grill heating element, is connected in series with a cooking filament resistance (8), provided as a series element, in such a manner that the filament resistance (7), which can be operated with higher specific output, is operated in a heating-up output stage with a greater output than both filament resistances (7, 8) together in the subsequent lower output stage. In this lower output stage, the filament resistance (8) provided as series element is connected, being thermally considerably more restrictedly connected to a temperature sensor (10) of the associated temperature switch (12) than the other filament resistance (7), so that even during opening of the cooking oven muffle (2), which is necessary for handling the item being cooked, switching on again of the heating-up output stage is avoided. <IMAGE>

Bei einer Backofenheizung (1) ist als Oberhitze-Beheizungseinheit ein als Grillheizkörper betreibbarer Heizwiderstand (7) in Reihe mit einem als Vorschaltelement vorgesehenen Back-Heizwiderstand (8) so geschaltet, daß der mit höherer spezifischer Leistung betreibbare Heizwiderstand (7) in einer Aufheiz-Leistungsstufe mit einer höheren Leistung betrieben wird, als in der darauf folgenden niedrigeren Leistungsstufe beide Heizwiderstände (7, 8) gemeinsam. In dieser niedrigeren Leistungsstufe wird der als Vorschaltelement vorgesehene Heizwiderstand (8) zugeschaltet, wobei er thermisch wesentlich enger an einen Temperaturfühler (10) des zugehörigen Temperaturschalters (12) als der andere Heizwiderstand (7) angekoppelt ist, so daß selbst während des für Behandlungen des Bratgutes erforderlichen Öffnens der Backofenmuffel (2) ein Wiedereinschalten auf die Aufheiz-Leistungsstufe vermieden ist.
