[origin: EP0290045A2] The envelope has a rear wall and a front wall which projects over the rear wall in length about a foldable closure flap. It is made of stiff paper. On one side of the closure flap an adhesive is applied which interacts with the rear wall when the flap is folded over. The recloseability of the envelope is to be improved. Envelopes stacked one above the other are also to be prevented from adhering to one another. The adhesive is therefore constructed as a narrow adhesive strip extending over the width of the front wall. The edges of the closure flap adjacent to the adhesive strip on both sides project towards the inside in relation to the adhesive strip. <IMAGE>
