The mattress (1), cushion or the like has a top part (2), which has hollow chambers (7) and is open at one side, and a bottom part (3) which closes the hollow chambers (7) in the position of use, at least some of the hollow chambers (7) being fitted with additional spring elements (8). Whilst retaining the advantages of foam mattresses, an individual adjustment possibility of the spring characteristics of the mattress (1) is to be provided in principle in a simple manner for the user of the mattress. This is achieved in that the top part (2) and the bottom part (3) are constructed so that they can be detachably connected to each other by means of fasteners (4) or the like for the individual distribution of the spring elements (8). <IMAGE>

Bei einer Matratze (1), Polster od. dgl. aus einem elastischen Kunststoffmaterial mit einem einseitig offenen, Hohlkammern (7) aufweisenden Oberteil (2) und mit einem in der Gebrauchslage die Hohlkammern (7) abschließenden Unterteil (3), wobei wenigstens ein Teil der Hohlkammern (7) mit zusätzlichen Federelementen (8) ausgerüstet ist, soll unter Beibehaltung von Vorteilen von Schaumstoffmatratzen, grundsätzlich eine individuelle Einstellmöglichkeit des Federverhaltens der Matratze (1) in einfacher Art und Weise für den Benutzer der Matratze ermöglicht werden. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, daß Oberteil (2) und Unterteil (3) mittels Halteverschlüssen (4) od. dgl. zur individuellen Verteilung der Federelemente (8) lösbar miteinander verbindbar ausgebildet sind.
