1. Gas scavenging brick for use in metallurgical melting vessels, the area of the gas scavenging brick (10) effective for a passage of gas being subdivided into sections (22, 24, 26, 28, 34) by at least one intermediate element (16, 18, 30, 35, 38) which is impermeable to gas to the greatest extent and runs in the direction of the gas flow, characterized in that each section (22, 24, 26, 28, 34) is adjoined at the bottom by a gas and/or solids feed line (32), which open out into a common main gas line (50) and can be connected individually or in any assignment to the gas and/or solids sources via a control element (52).

Zur Herstellung qualitativ hochwertiger Metalle ist es häufig erforderlich, die flüssige Metallschmelze mittels eingeblasener Gase in metallurgischen Gefäßen zu behandeln. Für derartige Behandlungsverfahren werden häufig poröse, gaspermeable feuerfeste Gasspülsteine verwendet. Die Erfindung betrifft einen derartigen Gasspülstein, dessen für einen Gasdurchtritt wirksamer Bereich in einzelne Abschnitte unterteilt ist.
