Foldable chair of the type comprising, principally: - a seat (1), for example of rectangular or square shape, - a back (2) in the form of a U, attached to the opposite lateral sides of this seat via its lateral branches (2a) and by means of articulations (5), - a front leg (4) in the form of a U, held at the opposite sides of the rear part of the said seat via its branches (4a) and by means of articulations (6), - and a rear leg (3) comprising two lateral branches (3a) braced and connected via its branches and by means of articulations (8, 9), on the one hand, to the lower end of the branches (2a) of the said back, and, on the other hand, to the branches (4a) of the said front leg, the said chair comprising, in the direction of its thickness, after folding, only two tiers, namely a first tier consisting of the seat (1) surrounded on three of its sides by the back (2) in the form of a U, and a second tier consisting of the front leg in the form of a U (4) surrounding the rear leg (3). <IMAGE>
