[origin: EP0291818A2] In a trimming device for edge gluing machines for trimming the protruding edge-strip ends (5') with a trimming knife (25), the latter is actuated via an electromagnet (27) and the displacement of the carriage (7) carrying the trimming knife (25) is effected via an electromotor (37). The edge gluing machine can thus be driven exclusively by electricity, so that no compressed-air connection is necessary. The edge gluing machine is less expensive and can also be used in plants without a compressed-air facility. <IMAGE>
