Abstract (en)

[origin: US4854242A] For the projectile core of a sabot projectile, it is desired to use very brittle material in consideration of the strived for effect in the target. It has been found that a projectile core formed of a brittle material already tends to break while being delivered to the firing weapon. To avoid this danger, the brittle part of the projectile core is prestressed or pre-biased by a tie rod. The projectile core preferably consists of three components, wherein the intermediate component is prestressed and the contact surfaces between these three components are substantially conically structured.

Für den Geschosskern (11) eines Treibspiegelgeschosses (10) möchte man im Hinblick auf die Wirkung im Ziel sehr spröde Werkstoffe verwenden. Es hat sich nun gezeigt, dass ein Geschosskern (11) aus einem solchen spröden Werkstoff bereits bei der Zufuhr zur Waffe zerbricht. Um diese Gefahr zu vermeiden, wird der spröde Teil (13) des Geschosskerns (11) mit Hilfe eines Zugankers (15) vorgespannt. Vorzugsweise besteht der Geschosskern (11) aus drei Teilen (12,13,14), von denen der Mittelteil (13) vorgespannt ist, und wobei die Berührungsflächen zwischen diesen drei Teilen kegelförmig ausgebildet sind.
